Make Spammers Work For Their Comments

Something that is not fun when you have a blog, it's when spammers come to my blog and leave a generic comment like those below:

lol

Good info!

I'm subscribing now

or worse, gibberish like this:

dfadf df dsf d adsfsdasd

My blog is nofollow so spammers don't get any PageRank juice. Fortunately, most people add to the post by writing a longer and usefull comment.

One solution is the Minimum Comment Length plugin.

The plugin is very simple. You can set a minimum number of characters and an error message:

Error: Your comment is too short. Please try to say something useful.

Of course, I don't tell them the minimum.

Make spammers work for their comments from now on! ;)
