Copyright © 2012 Steve McGrath. Visit the original article at http://mcgrath.ca/2010/12/23/definition-of-a-true-friend/. See free movies legally(and make money too)

I received this as an email from a true friend and decided to share it on my blog. The original text was in French so I just made a translation since it's universal. I don't know the true origin of the email.

A simple friend, when it goes to your house, act like an invitee.
A true friend open the fridge and serve himself/herself.

A simple friend never saw you cry.
A true friend has his/her shoulders wet with your tears.

A simple friend does not know the names of your parents.
A true friend has the telephone numbers in his/her address book.

A simple friend bring a bottle of wine at your parties.
A true friend arrive earlier to help you cook and stay late to help you cleanup.

A simple friend hates it when you call after your have gone to sleep.
A true friend ask you why you waited too much before calling.

A simple friend think that the friendship is over when you have a dispute
A true friend call you after the dispute

A simple friend think that you will be there for him/her
A true friend will be always there for you

A simple friend read this message et delete it
A true friend will pass it along to others and send it back to you

Of course virtual friend can't do physical stuff but can be there in some ways when you need them or need you.

I think that this is a good definition of a true friend.

On this:
Happy Holidays and Happy 2011

It was new to me and did not know what my results would be. For the offers, I'm using NB. In fact, I unexpected received my first payment in mid January. The amount from December was $62.20USD. I must mentioned that I started on the 8-9th of December.

When I setup a site now, my overall goal is to get $1/day so I was more than happy with $62.20USD. Since it was a USD check, I had to wait 21 days minus the fees($2.50 plus the exchange rate) to convert to Canadians dollars. Having said that, it came to $75.97CAN.

Around mid January, I had to change the offer because the advertiser stopped doing campaigns. I was lucky because I found another alternative but the downside was only for US and Canadians visitors. Other visitors that clicked on the offer were redirected to a free software offer. I got a few dollars from that too.

I also tweaked my landing page to get a better conversion ratio. That also helped more than expected with the new offer. Plus, their landing page was better/faster for visitors to submit their information.

My test site is receiving low quality traffic so the number of visitors that click to the offer and then submits it is very low. What can I say, the targeted people for that site are lazy even with free things.

What was my results for January?

I even experimented with a CB related offer for 1.5 days in the last week. Since, it was not a free offer, I made $0 during that short period.

So, in January(29.5 days), my test site earned me $168.45USD. That's around $5.71USD/day.

Btw, I like NB even more now and you should join them.

For example, CB is mostly for software and ebooks. So, I registered with NB since I heard of them before and I knew they had some.

I was expecting to register and get an email a few minutes later or much later informing me that I was in the program. It was not like that. I first received a call to tell me I was in. I had to speak in English but that went well. They want to check if I'm a real person and I'm okay with that. The day after, I got another call from my affiliate manager. He wanted to introduce himself and see what were my goals. Again, I had to speak in English a bit longer with my French-Quebecois accent.

Making Money With Email Submits

If you don't know, an email or zip submit is when people must give some information(name, email or zip) and you get paid for that action.

I have a pre-owned domain where the traffic is still coming largely from traffic exchange. So, I created a new main page to offer a related email submit for them. When they click(just 0.6% of the time), 12.5% of them will take the offer. That site is averaging $3.14 per day since I started using it for that. Some days, I make zero but on other days, I make more. The visitor do have a choice to take the offer or not.

Depending of the type of domain/traffic, I'm sure you could earn more or less than that. For example, you could have some poll on your site. Whatever they answer, you send them to the offer. They give the information and you collect the money.

For me, making money with email submits was easier than I expected. Yes, it was worth my time to register with NB.

P.S. No, I won't tell you the offer since you need to find one targeted to your traffic.

Again, it took a bit longer than expected to update the report.

What's new without telling the content

37 pages versus 26 pages in v2

Better organized content

Added a family project chapter to show how to use the method

Added 4 new bonus chapters including Play Free Games(Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii...)

Now using Aweber to be able to offer a newsletter (more below).

Only buyers can resell the report

Affiliate get 100% commission

Free updates of the report

$10USD rebate on one of the tool

The Newsletter

With See Free Movies Legally, I asked buyers to subscribe to the RSS feed of this blog. I wanted to go the cheap way by saving money by not using an autoresponder like Aweber. Some did and I thank them for that. It was also a test since I like to think outside the box.

Last week, I decided to offer buyers updates of the report for free but could not do that via my RSS feed. I was then forced to email each buyer and send them to a special page to allow them to subscribe to the newsletter. I emailed them once because I did not want to be seen as a spammer by my ISP and them.

For that, I first needed an autoresponder.

Mini-review: Aweber

I researched many autoresponders but found that Aweber had the best reputation and features. The downside is that it cost more than others. The upside is that they have more features that will be interesting to bloggers like increasing the RSS Feed count. Also, Aweber was found to deliver more emails in your subscribers inbox. That's more important than the price.

When you register for the free trial on Aweber, you will have to pay in advance. At first, I did not like that but they had a good argument: spammers would use the free trial, spam like no tomorrow and then close the account. By asking to be paid first, it put a stop to that method. If you don't like Aweber, then you can just cancel it.

After that, it was easy to create my first subscription form to collect names before I emailed the older buyers.

Why not use a free autoresponder?

With free autoresponders, it's your host that can think you are a spammer since it's installed on your server. For a small list(few hundreds), it's a free option. But if your list becomes bigger, your email might not be delivered to subscribers or worst be flagged as a spammer. I did not want that headache since my list is growing every day.

My only problem is for new and old buyers to subscribe to the newsletter. If they don't, it's their lost. Plus, I can't force them.

I will give a few days for those that I emailed to subscribe before I can send my first newsletter about See Free Movies Legally v3.0 using Aweber.

Visit the original article at http://mcgrath.ca/2008/10/24/opinion-listquik/. See free movies legally(and make money too)

I received an invitation to participate in a new list building site(ListQuick) by Carlos who had read my review on Majon. At first, I though the idea was cool since I wanted to offer See Free Movies Legally(and make money too) on such a list.

I must state that it's not a review but my opinion of ListQuick(beta). I was not able to register at this time(today).

I will examine the 3 selling points:

The List

You can register and be a Free or a Pro Member. But in a list, you mostly want proven buyers and not "freeloaders". Not that I'm against free but if most members won't be buying what you sell, what's the point?

Free members can email 100 random members every 5 days. It's 1000 for Pro members.

You could always see this has an opportunity to promote your best blog of the week.

Can you select the type of emails you can receive? You don't want a garden related email. It would waist your time and an email by the sender.

Let's say that 100 members subscribe on the same day. 5 days later they sent 1 email each so in theory, you should get 100 emails from some of them and older members. Can you limit it? Of course, a minimum of emails per day should be set to keep the integrity of the system.

Since you asked to be in the list, it's not spam. But what will happen when members start to get too much emails, will they stop reading or filter them?

The Forced Matrix

They are doing 2x20 forced matrix thus create a list of 2,097,150. I saw list bigger than that for just one subjects. Personally, I'm not a fan of big matrix like this since it look like a pyramid scheme. At least, they have free members in it to counter that and you should be able to reach a lot of people... eventually.

Do they offer a way to email everyone in the list for a fee? Is it just a Pro members feature?

The income

You can get a commission for everyone in your downline that upgrade to Pro members. Here is the kicker: the new member must pay a lifetime membership for just .... $99. Sorry, but it's risky to pay that amount to an unproven concept like this. You are taking the chance that it does not work.

It has nothing with the honesty of the owners. Sometimes, it just look good on paper.

How I would had done it

Here, I would make it different and will suppose that the features are worth it.

I would had charge $5/month(Pro) in a 2x3 matrix for a total of 14 members.

Level 1 would had paid you $1.00/month for each Pro member (2)
Level 2 would had paid you $0.75/month for each Pro member (4)
Level 3 would had paid you $0.50/month for each Pro member (8)

If all members are Pro, it's $9 per month. The owners are giving $2.25/month in commissions. Remove the Level 3, and the membership is paying for itself.

If you are a free member, you may or may not have access to a matrix but paid a one time commission of $0.50.

Unassigned Pro members could be bought to build your matrix.

There are many ways to play with it like a 5x8 matrix. But the matrix should not be the selling point but the features for members. It's one way to make additional passive income to pay for the membership while expecting the real money in the list.

Conclusion

With too many unknown related to the numbers of email I could get per day, I will have to pass on this one.

Just to make sure: It's an opinion and not a review since I did not register.

If you are using it, you might want to leave your experience(good or bad) with ListQUIK. Don't use any referral link in your comment because I will delete your comment.

Edit: I decided to join and try it since it's free.

Edit 2: If you decide to pay for things, you will need a free AlertPay Premium account. If you don't know them, it's like PayPal with less fees. I reviewed and using them.

That was very easy. But also, it gave me an alternative if I start to get Adsense smart pricing on one of my site. So, while I remove my Adsense code on the site, I can replace it with that affiliate.

Every time I send them a new visitor, I get $0.05 and $0.50 if they write a review. Okay, it's not much but it's better than $0.01. Of course, you can use Adbrite to replace it for example.

Taking it to the next level

I use another method that for every site I visited, I could send them a visitor to one of my site. I just them to my affiliate thus the no site needed part. But time is money so I paid $5.95 and was able to sent 1000 real visitors. It's optional and you could do it for free but I wanted to test the method both ways.

Show me the numbers

Simple calculation mean that I should had make a net profit of $43.05(1000 visitors * $0.05 -$5.95) with my 1000 visitors I sent. Well, not exactly. Some visitors are not accepted or even counted or the window was closed too soon. We all have the same problem with own web analytics. This is a screen shot of my affiliate showing what I received. You will noticed that I got 422 visitors or 42.2%. I do think you can do better and I may had been unlucky during my test. Of that, 10 were declined. But I still made $13.65( $20.60- $5.95) plus the $10 for signup. The screen also show a referrals/sales program but they use a generic affiliates program. If someone do register under me, I will update this and use the contact form to tell me.

You may click on the picture to enlarge it.

Conclusion

I mainly used the above methods(free to join) plus writing this post to send traffic but I just started to use my other sites too. You could write for an article review site, add it to your forum signature, email signature(no site needed) ..... Because I don't want to loose possible Adsense clicks, I open a new window.

That's my Adsense smart pricing alternative besides Adbrite.

You also noticed that I did not write the affiliate name. You will have to click to know about it because it's my click-bait. But they do reviews(Car, Movies, Home...) so it's good for many niche blogs/sites.

My special offer

Because I don't know if and how it will works, those that do register with the affiliate or using the method under me, you will be able to add 1 real blog in my blog directory(PR6) for life(no review will be needed). Just contact me after you are in so that I can check the report(user name/email used). The hour may give a clue, I hope.
Note: So to not spoiled the fun, I disabled the comments.

As most of you don't know, Majon is a bulk opt-in emailer with other marketing services.

First try

I had already got some results with the free ebook Income 4 Beginner(review) on my blog and so, I wanted to test this method after reading elsewhere about them. Plus, other Income 4 Beginner users may find it useful too. What can I say: I like trying stuff.

So last September, I decided to try their Safe Announce service($60) to sell Income 4 Beginners. The list is for 150 000 non targeted emails in plain text. The other site used the 1 Million($265) target method(HTML text) and made thousands(14-20K) from it. I figured that I could make a few hundreds at best or at least get back my $60. If it would had worked well, I would had try the 1 million then 3 Millions($495) and finally the 5 Millions($795). I wanted to see the result of each level with a $60 starting investment.

I did one mistake: I did not create a landing page for it thus sending it directly to Cash 4 Beginners. But it was small mistake because I really did not get real traffic on the new site. So, it was easy to track the traffic. After a few weeks, I emailed them to make sure my campaign was sent. It was indeed sent yet I could not see any spike in traffic. I figured that with 150K, I would get 1%(1500) from it in traffic alone. Selling is another matter.

Second try

After a few emails with Majon, I change my message to make it shorter using one of the samples of Income 4 Beginners. Plus, I created a landing page to monitor the progress. They did it for free(nice). Don't forget that if it had worked, I would had bought the pricier services.

This time, I waited 1 month more after the initial sending of the emails (up to 10 days) and I monitored the traffic on that page. I only got 2 hits and they were mine. I sent an email that I received zero traffic to that page. As by chance, a few days later I received a big 36 visits and then nothing.

Conclusion

The only trouble I had with the staff was that my contact in charge of my case was sick for a few days and it took several days for someone else to answer me back about my lack of results. Otherwise, they were polite and professional.

If the method would had at least sent me traffic for the free ebook Income 4 Beginners, I would also used it to promote 1 Cool File but I would had expected more than 1%. I can't recommend the Safe Announce service with the low numbers I got from them with Income 4 Beginners. Is it because the email is filtered by people thus less likely to be read? Maybe. If you have money and want to try the 1 Million targeted option, then be my guest and good luck with it.

That's not new and I often get 1 or 2 per day. But today, I received about 1000+ email in 1-2 hour to that email like Mail not delivered, AutoNotify, Returned mail ....They all used the domain but with a non existent email like toto{@}mydomain.com.

That email is not normally busy and so, I never had to add a filter but I did activate the junk mail filter in Thunderbird.

If you ever get in that situation, you could add this in a filter when the From or Sender fields are:

deamon

postmaster

host-master

hostmaster

This is only a partial list and you may add to it.

The downside is that you may get a true Returned mail if you made a mistake sending a real email . You could however make a second filter to catch the whole email used in the body of the message.

What thing I can say is that a lot of people are in vacation on this Black Friday. I go a lot out of the office email

No, I did not win at some Lotto, inherit money... I just got this:

Subject: OMG, what are you thinking
Body:

What are you thinking...if pat sees this your divorced dude. :-{) see for yourself... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuBt8bGP5tZ

On the first look, you may think it's a viral/spam email using YouTube. It looked genuine when you see the link but by placing the mouse over it, I noticed that the "URL" was only a anchor text with no connection to YouTube. Underneath, it was an IP only. So, if a person is new to email, curious, tired to notice or just too quick to click on it, the damage could be very harmful to that person's computer.

I had clues like the person sending it to me but somewhere on the Internet, there is a "dude" with a Pat that could had been dupe in clicking it. If said "dude" did something stupid at the company picnic with the secretary or his woman boss, he would had been a prime candidate. Some may say it's punishment

Conclusion

Watch out for that link if in doubt because it may save you some headache.

P.S If you clicked the link above, it's the IP of this blog. You do get a 404 error by my host but I think it's because it's a blog and IP is not redirected to WordPress 404 error management.

But...
.. it was a phishing scam. The email was not properly formatted thus did not received it in html and was able to see all the code but not the text very well. The link they wanted me to click on was pointing to another site. All the other links were from PayPal but mostly of GIF, JPG. Also, I made a big purchase yesterday with my account(more on that soon ).

The formated looks very professional on first look.

The phishing site was closed just a few minutes after I had received the email. I think PayPal got a few emails about it!

Now, I'm wondering. Did they read Ades Blog or have a Google Alert with "PayPal limited account"? They see a post, check comments for possible baits and try to "phish" someone very fast.

Click the image to enlarge

In red, you can see where it would go.

In green, you can see that it's linking to the PayPal.
