Some of you know that I wrote about Friendswin before, I was exited at that time because I saw a real potential for Friendswin. I even called it a Facebook Alternative where you can make money if you wanted too. Because it was not a MLM, I decided to joined and pay my $9.95/month.

I will recap some of the big features(very video centric):

They made a video showing the soon to be launch version 1.5.

Soon after I joined, I started to promote it. I got about 30-35 members under me with 2-3 that paid their $9.95/month.

Then, I started to get private message that were spam(FriendsSpam). That was a real turn off. I don't blame members for quitting at that point. Friendswin finally step up and made a big cleanup and so, I don't get spam has much now. When I do, I can report them easily. They also removed most of the non active members. I was too busy on my other projects to make used of the network. I only approved friends.
From the start, I decided to sticked to it for 5-6 months. I have reached that point but I will continue because of the future improvement coming soon with v1.5. I will give it 3+ months but they will pump the marketing campaign with the new version.

They just started and it shows the potential of the dating service. Video Dating (no login required for viewing but some of them ask for an access code). Friendswin modified the force matrix so that people that are recruited directly by a person will earn much more to them.

How much?

For every person that pay $9.97/month, the direct recruiter will now get $0.80. In October, I made $0.70. In November, I'm making $1.30 so far.

I also found out that about 17-18% are now paying unlike the 6% in my own downline. So, the potential is there.

Recently, I emailed Rebecca that did a post for another social networks that shared it's ads revenue with members up to 10 levels. I asked her opinion about Friendswin because I wanted her feedback. Unfortunately, she never heard of Friendswin but asked about it just the same. So, emailed her back. At the same time, it gave me the opportunity to write a recap based on my experience so far.

What is Friendswin?

Friendswin is a new social network site. It's not yet fully started but the basic is ready now(profile page, blog, journal, forum ...). You pay an optional monthly fee($9,97) to get access to the rich video portion of the site. However, it's free for members and, of course, to join. The ideal is to get a compensation from sales from each paid member. If they don't spend, you get nothing but you do get new friends

Main Video features

They are putting the video services at the forefront( see demos) and it will compete against MySpace, Facebook, Monster....but in one social network:
Video Dating
Video Resume
Video Conference

Money

The logic is that it can't crumble like a pure MLM because people can choose or not to pay for services. For example, someone could use the video dating for a few months and stop when they have found someone. Some will be there just for the social network only because not everyone will be there for the money. For me, it's my first social network and registered because of the money angle and it's no a full MLM.

So far, most are not paying the monthly fee. But because I did pay my monthly fee, I got a big $0.70 made from the 2 in my downline who did. I guest the others are waiting for the official launch very soon(November). But those who did pay in October, will get their downline build when they start advertising for new members in full force. It's call the spillover. I estimated that I should get 80-85 new members for every 100 000 new members. Everyone must get a sponsor because it's a force matrix. So, there are no reasons to bypass the recruiting link. I did try when I registered but was asked to enter one which I did.

It's a gamble because nobody can say how much new members(10 000 to x millions) will be attracted to it. I do think that the video dating could be a real money maker for them/me and that's why I took the "risk" and paid. On my blog, I stated that I would pay for a few months after launch and then re-evaluate if I continue or not. If I do get 25-30 paid members, it will pay for itself and I will continue.

You can create campaign URLs like the one above to evaluate PPC, Email, Site...but I only few and one for this post. I wanted to see how this post could do in recruiting new members(free or paid).

I have a very tiny blog and I already got 32 in my downline. My own sponsor has much more (must be a pro) and made $42 in September. The first level(5) is $0.30, second(25) is $0,40, third(625) is $0.50 up to level 8 which is $1.00. I have the first 2 filled and now "working" on the third.

One of the nice feature of Friendswin is to allow paid members to get a piece of the pie thus allowing them to create a passive income from the network. Yes, you can make money with the other network but here, it's passive and everybody can with a little investment.

Potential for popular bloggers

I took a recent post where I listed stats about a few popular blogs.

Here are potential earnings if they can get their RSS readers into their own downline. I only used 6% that would be paid members multiplied by $0.35 when less than a 1000 RSS. For the others, I used $0.45 and for TechCrunch, I used .60 because it would have more levels than anybody. It's only an example and I used very conservative numbers. If it goes higher than 6%, then good for them

Conclusion

The compensation plan could be very good for those looking into making money online with a social network. And don't forget that that that you can use it for publicity(traffic) for your sites/blogs. So, by mixing both passive(compensation) and active income(publicity), this network could be a real money maker for those that wish it.

I must admit that I like the ideal of making some passive additional income. And with the recent news that Microsoft invested in Facebook, it should get some attention because Facebook or MySpace don't offer any compensation plan like that.

This is the last day to take part of the Friendswin’s Spillover. If you pay($9,97) today, you will be able to build your downline when they start advertising to the general public.

We are 19240 members now. On Oct. 22, we were 15960. It's 3280 more members.

Base on the numbers of my own downline, around 6% are paying members and the service is not started yet.

If use the 6% on the 19240, I get 1154 members eligible to the spillover.

For every 100 000 new members, I would get 85-86 new members in my downline. Because they will be further, I will make a little more and that will pay for my monthly membership.

Okay, I don't expect that they would all be paying but I expect more than 6% would since it will be Live by then.

November will be very interesting indeed!

It was a mass email because I did upgrade a few weeks back. Since then, I had another member upgrade so I'm now making a big $0.70 with only 2 paid members(Level 1 $0.30, Level 2 $0.40).

I hope the others in my downline will upgrade to take part of this great opportunity. I think the others are in a wait and see mode, waiting for the last minute or they are there for the free social network only. I can understand them but my little finger tell me that those who pay sooner will be given the spillover first.

I also started to create a list of new friends and the side effect is that it will make a potential great list. You can create a blog there but I'm sticking to my profile page for now. I do have this blog.

I do get offers from them via the journal post in my profile page. This is like sending a post to all my friends and it's not related to the blog part. It shows the last few journals. Some started to exploit the profile page and add a background, pictures...

Just a few day ago, I taught that Friendswin were launching to the general public. It was a "boardroom only" launched. But to show how fast it's growing, we are now 12137 members. On Sept. 28, we were 9663.

They will soon launch a major public campaign and when it goes viral, they will give the spillover of new members to qualified members like me. That is nice. Today, I paid my first month. I should mentioned that one of my members in my downline has already made me a big $0.40(paid it's first month too) I think most are procrastinating but eventually want a piece of the pie too.

Also, by becoming a paying member, I can now create many "Campaigns". If your look at my blog's header, you will see the animated Friendswin banners. If you click it, you will see my name for sponsor and it's easier to register because you don't need to enter the sponsor now.

I also started filling my profile there.

When Friendswin launch on Monday, October 1, it will be the biggest thing in social networking. Why? Because they will offer the 4 major things found elsewhere in one site:

1. Social networking (grow by 89%/year, expected to double in 2 years)
2. Online dating (see below)
3. Employment Industry (search for a job or employee)
4. Internet Home Business (who don't want to make money from home)

The funny thing is that on The Loop(G4-AOTS) this week, they were talking about the "backlash" of general social networking because they all look the same and people are starting to be tired of managing many sites. Niche sites will still be there but with Friendswin(general), you can also make money with an affiliate program and it's where it is separate from the other general sites.

I'm not in any social network site but this was the key element for me to register(free). You must pay $9.97/month to become an "Independent Marketing Representative" when it launch. I don't pay nothing yet and it will be optional anyway(free members part). In a few months when the network is better known and bigger, it won't cost me nothing.

Imagine if people leave Facebook or MySpace because they want a piece of the add revenue too? The potential is huge!

But I'm still a realist because those under 18 will be kept out thus less members. I also don't expect to make money on every member neither. But some of them may buy a service here or service there that will still pay me a small commission each time.

Yesterday, I decided to visit the site again to see if they were new things. They are still in pre-launch mode so nothing is active but I clicked on the link of the video dating demonstration on the front page. Wow!

I plan to use it to promote my sites. So the business angle is important for me.

On Sept. 6(last time), they were 5100+ members and now they have 9663. It's not bad for something not even launch yet.

Again before it launch on Monday, you can register(free) under me . I tried to register without a sponsor but could not. Everyone must have a sponsor and this will make the Matrix(5,25,125 ... to 8 level). Also, it’s worth noting that the earlier your are in, the better for your future “down line”. That’s if you want to make money from the free and paid members below you.

I think it's Monday but I don't know at what time. They have a boardroom only launch first.
