Rob who made the MSB eBay plugin recently launch a plugin for WP with a few friends. I which them great success with it.

This new plugin allow you to have a page be rewritten thus creating new content for your blog and thus bypassing the duplicate content penalty. This is great to bring traffic to you niche sites. Since I'm moving away from WP to MyStarterBlog, I did not bought it but some of you might want to look at the video.

The second product is a fast niche site creator working with no MySQL backend. This one, I did bought it. I had a chance to use  for the last week and boy! does it make it simple to create niche sites in a few minutes. I'm using $1 .info for now thus lowering my cost. The official launch is in 1 day but take a look now at the video. It support eBay, Amazon and Chitika ads. For each site, you only use one method only.  I can create multiple sites per hour. However, it will be selling for 14 days only. After that, it's bye! bye! bye! no more.   If you are strap for money, I would bye that one first and then the other later with the money you will make.

The default theme is simple and it's not meant to be a competition with MyStarterBlog. The goals are different and both works.

The other product is for creating sales pages and giving you tips on how to do that.

I believe in the diversification of income streams and this one goes into my overall method to make money online.

Not so long ago, I was put in touch with a nice young woman(Marie-Caroline Tremblay) that wanted a basic site for her new business:  she does soins des pieds Québec (Foot care). Sorry, but like you can see, it's a local French speaking business in Québec city(ville de Québec).

I used a current MyStarterBlog theme but modified it to her basic need. For now, the site is like a online brochure and I will update myself. Later if she get a computer, I will teach her how to update the site herself if she want.

She work mainly from her cell phone to take appointments so for now, I removed the contact page.You do need basic HTML/CSS to modify the theme.

For the graphic part, she was redoing her business cards and I asked her designer for a few jpg(logo, background). He was nice enough to email me those.

The site is done so that I don't have a RSS feed or news section. I only used the [homepagecontent] and a few pages/tags. Like I said, it's mostly to have an online  precence  and refer clients to the site to get more information after giving her business card to them.

Since I don't use any backend, I don't need to care about security issues. Also, it's light and fast for the server.

Making money with local businesses sites

Depending on your skills, you could start making a  basic site using MyStarterBlog to businesses near you. You could add some SEO services too if they have the budget.

About her foot care services

I'm not the kind of man who pamper himself at all but while working on the content, she gave me a  soins des pieds Québec (Foot care).  In most cases, you should not talk thus use the time to relax. But, I was asking questions and her answering me to optimized the time for creating her site.

Because of that, I did not get the full effect but only at the end. Yes, that part was indeed relaxing.  That's why when you get one, you should not have any distractions around you. Send the children outside or to friends.

On a personal note from a man's point of view: Guys,  your partner will love softer foot instead of sand paper. So, take one for the team and get one from time to time.  And if you come to Québec City, she goes to the client's place anyway. 

Conclusion

In theory, it's something that could be done quickly if you have the content of the site first. Being a nice guy, I worked with Marie-Caroline one on one to write the content.

For me, it was a way to test the possibility of converting an English theme to French. Also, show what's possible to do with MyStarterBlog by going beyond the normal uses.

Sorry that I did not update my blog. I was busy more than I expected with MyStarterBlog, my sites and life. But, I still need to create more sites using MSB.

But, I was surprised this weekend that I only wrote 2 posts in the month of May. When I looked, I remembered my post Can Strippers Make Money Online.

Reading the post again, it picked again my curiosity about sex workers and that industry. Plus, I needed a break anyway and wanted to know more.

Again, don't talk to me about the morality angle until you know more about the facts. Plus, a lot of remaining misconceptions were dropped for me. Since it's mostly women that are sex workers, I will use them in my example.

What is a sex worker?

The 3 main types of sex workers I will discuss are: strippers,  erotic masseuses and escorts. The last 2 are mostly unknown to the general public including me until I started doing my research.

Depending on were you live, the level of the sexual act might change. I will go with Quebec since it's what I learned from reading the forums.

Stripper: In a semi-private booth, the stripper will do a "contact dance". While dancing during a song, you can touch her breast only and her sit on on you. She can't be completely naked(keep her bottom). Or she can be completely naked but you can't touch her. If you do, a bouncer will touch you but you won't like that.  lol

Erotic masseuse: That one is more intimate because both parties are naked. She will start with massage using her naked body to relax you and end with the "happy ending".  You can touch the breasts  but won't have any fellatio or penetration.

Escort: This is the full service so you can have fellatio or penetration.

In theory, that's what happening. But it can go further or not. Because stripper/erotic massage establishment don't like trouble with the law, they will kick out any worker that go beyond that. Other might not care at all.

Adult movies talents are known and more accepted by the general public for doing a similar act: Being paid to have sex. In a way, it's the hypocrisy of our society.

Is it legal?

When doing my researched, I was surprised to learn that paying for sex is legal in Canada. In the US, I know it's legal in a few state like the ranch near Las Vegas. Heck, one of the sex worker was even interviewed by Oprah. Yes, Oprah. Can you believe it?

However in Canada, you have a few laws that a sex worker must follow. Some are okay and some are not up to date with what is happening in the real world.

For example, a sex worker can't go on a street(public places) and ask/bother potential clients walking/driving by. It's normal since children might be in the streets in the day time. At least, for those children brave enough not to watch TV or play video games that went outside.

Also, you can't maintain a bordello or invite clients to an apartment. This law is kind of not up to date since agencies/sex workers bypass that law. I'm sure that if done properly, it can be done discretely.

Like any business, if it disturbs the neighbors(like too much noise in a apartment), a complaint could be done. You could have a band practicing all night thus bordering the neighbors too. Respect is a must in any cases.

Also, a person can't profit from another person's sex work earnings(pimp). Again, that law is old since you have escorts agency operating in every city. They just "play" around the law. An agency is the employer of the sex worker thus send her clients. The agency will handle the logistic like taking calls, find the places for the meeting, protection, driver, medical tests, pay for the publicity on the Internet/newspaper...

However, if a sex worker gives 50-65% to the agency, then, it's not really fair in my humble opinion considering the type of intimate work they do. I even read a sex worker story charging $200 but having to give $130 to the agency.

To compensate, a sex worker might ask money for extras acts. I guest the agency need more profits in case they get arrested and pay for lawyers. By changing the law,  the sex worker will have a better compensation or way to negotiate with the agency. Plus, that money will be declare as income.

That's why many escorts  become independents or indy to keep more of the profit. For me, those are business minded women in my book. They saw a paying niche and offer to fulfill it their way.

Since it's mostly women, will they arrest the children(16-17 old) of a single mom because they profit from her work or a working living boyfriend? Yes, I know it 's extreme but you get my point.

The law should be updated for the reality.

Even law enforcement tolerate it. They might send undercover cops to find if minors are involved.

About the sex workers

I can understand protecting women being forced by someone else to be sex workers. In fact, I'm all for that. Even more so when it's to protect minors. If a sex worker want to get out of this business, I don't have any trouble with that too.

But from what I found is they are many sex workers that do it because they want to. They might like the sex and of course the money, pay a credit card debt faster, pay for post high school or have a better lifestyle thus do it part time or full time... In any case, it's their personal liberty.

That's why I draw the line. Why should personal liberties be dictated by someone else when consenting adults agreed to terms. If it's done respectfully, why not?

Those that are oppose to this on moral/religious ground must not be opened minded about sex. It's okay but it's their personal choices for them too.

If you think about it, did not myself,  a professional escort is the ultimate feminist. She decide what she want to do with her body,  own her sexuality and not afraid to find her boundaries. That's pure women power!

Yet, some women/groups want to protect all sex workers even those that do it because they want to.

I'm sure some women will write to tell me that many sex workers were abused when they were young. I don't doubt that and deeply feel for them. I even  hate the cowards that did it.  But it's not all of them.  I'm talking about women that do like to have sex and the money here.

With this kind of thinking of protecting all of them, they should also close all fast food restaurants to protect all fat people.  Yes, I'm fat too even if I lost 21 pounds so far.   But sometimes, I want to eat a pizza or poutine because I want one and I would be mad if I could not. The same apply to the cigarette or alcohol industries.  How many, because one parent was drunk, were abused children?   But in the end, it's a choice!

It's also like telling a big movie actor or sport player that earn millions that they can't be paid for something they like to do.

But how many people work in a "regular" job they don't even like but do it to get paid? Yes, many sex workers don't like it too but it's a way for them to get paid.

Because it's a special kind of service, most won't work everyday. Some indy can even afford to take a month off. They are human beings and not machine so they must also take a break too like everyone else. It's good for them to recharge the batteries.

A sex worker will have shift but will not work 100% of that time. Depending on her financial goals for the day, she might want 2-4 clients per day.

Often, a good review will be welcome for an escort that like her work and not just for the money. It bring her new business too. She can also want no reviews to keep her work more secret because of the prejudice she would face.

For some clients, it's a way to find/experiment their sexual curiosity. Not everyone are at the same sexual level and it's normal.

Another type of client are those with a physical problem. They have needs thus it's one way for them to get it fulfill.

The last one, but rare,  are those with sexual problem/intimacy issues. They could be treated with the help of  a sexologist but the practical part is by using a professional escort.  I also added virgins (18+ of course) that want a "sure thing" or might also have intimacy issues to work on  for the older one's.

The married clients

I decided to make a special section for them instead. It include non-married couples too.

You will also have the married man who is looking to satisfy a sexual need that he does not get from his partner.  He may be ashamed to reveal that part of his sexual side or the partner might not like to do it.  Some will tell it to their partners while others have to  hide it from them. From what I can read, few tell it to their partners.

It's a shame because those that told it seemed to have a better home/sex life since at the end of the day they go home to a loving and understanding partner. Some even include the partner into the mix.

For those partners that might get jealous, here is something to think about : The sex worker is being paid thus it is a business transaction for her and not emotional for the most part. But, it could happen if he does not get the emotional side at home too. Now, if your man would sleep with one of your girlfriend and fall in love with her, it's another whole matter and a more serious problem for you.

Those partners reading this might want to ask their men if he has needs(weird or not). You may or not like the answer but I'm sure you would build a better partnership.  If that need build up overtime because it's not satisfied, then it will blow in your face sooner or later. That's just my opinion from man's point of view.

But the downside of using an escort is that will drain the pocket book and will need to be taken into account in the budget.

One last thing on this: I also found a site(French) where men and women want to experiment with others looking for the same need. It's free but the risk is greater than seeing an escort because of the higher potential of emotional bond that could happen. Those are not only singles on that site.

Love and Work

Some sex workers do have boyfriends that they really love.  Like I said before, a sex worker is not a machine thus has emotional needs too. For her, it's harder because her boyfriend must learn to accept her work. He must differentiate between love and work.

Like with anything else, you have health risk. Also, at least in the forums, most escorts will make it a rule for the client to wear a condom. Otherwise, she will leave.

Let's take another angle from the bar scene.

Man A is infected but don't know and has one night stand(unprotected) with Woman 1. Woman 1 then has one night stand with Man B. Man B sleep with  Woman 2 and infect her. Woman 2 then sleep with her partner Man 3 and so on and so on... Like you can see, you have risk there too.

The virus came from someone but it does not mean it's from a sex worker. How many "regular" people get check every 3 months?

The money

In Canada, in theory, a sex worker should declare all the earnings. But because the way the law is written, it's risky if the taxman start to dig deeper. By modifying the laws on where/how to announce the service, the government could make a lot more money.

Also, the sex worker could be able to have access to other service like a loan when buying a car, house, renting ...They won't be afraid to spend the money and have to explain their lifestyle to the taxman. Some might like those changes thus remove part of the stress/stigma they face everyday.

Since we are in a recession,  we should also look out of the box to get new money from the oldest job in the world.

How Much?

All prices are in Canadian dollars and taken from the agency or indy websites/forums. To give you an example here in Quebec city:

To have have a semi private contact dance with a stripper, it's $15-20 per song.

To have have an erotic massage, it's $60 for 30 minutes and $90 for 60 minutes. She might charge $20 extra for more things.

To have have a full service with an escort,  it's  $90 for 30 minutes session and $120-140 for 60 minutes.   She might charge $20 extra for more things. Buying more hours in bulk won't cost less. If you boss tell you: Can you work 5 hours but I will pay you 2.5? I don't think you would that.

The only example  I found in the forum was a client  who wanted an escort for 8 hours. He mentioned that the escort agreed to charge less for him since it was not 8 hours of straight sex. He was older so needed time to recharge.

In Montreal, it will cost more since it cost more to live there.

I won't replicate it here but while reading the forums and reviews, I had a second browser of the terms used. It's weird at first but I got used to it quickly for the popular one. The 2 forums had a list of the terms.

To better understand those working  as sex workers, I found 3 sites.

1. Chez Stella(English, French) where you will find many involved(sex-workers, public-health researchers and sympathizers) around sex workers

2. Union des TDS du Quebec (French only and not finished yet) who was founded by 5 professional escorts tired of seeing only the bad side shown in the media and wanting to keep their rights of doing what they want/love.

3. The other end of the spectrum, you have LACLES(English, French). They want to eliminate that industry without taking into considerations sex workers rights and clients needs. They want to criminalize the clients.

The media

When you see reports on TV, newspaper, radio or web, you mostly see the bad side of that industry. They always take woman that was exploited but rarely a woman that like it.

We had a  radio station show that interviewed an erotic masseuse  a few weeks ago. I had already started doing basic research and it confirmed what I had found. She like her work but had to hide it the first 4 months  from her boyfriend. He now knows and accept it. It's now been 2 years they are together.

Conclusion

Wow! I must say that I learned more than expected about this industry and many prejudice felt.

I will make it short: Yes, it's a personal intimate business but still a business.

You may agree or disagree with the sex workers industry and I'm okay with that.  But I believe more in personal liberty and the right to make  money from something you want/love to do for whatever reasons.

Paid or not, people will have sex one way or another.

Stripper and SEO

If the customer declines, she could offer one dance for $15. Yes, it's less money but she will be optimizing her time by having the client ready instead of waiting for the next one.

In Internet marketing, you would sell a product and you can also offer the client related products. Most of the time, the upsell is discounted more than usual.

What about the needed skills?

A stripper must be able to read the types of clients, work the room, be approachable, dance in a erotic way, get regular customers ...

In Internet marketing,  you must know basic HTML/CSS, able to FTP file to the host, manage a host/domain name, use software ... You don't have to be an expert but at least be able to search online when you get stuck. Fortunately for us,  a lot of information is there to help us.

Because of their work, strippers are able to learn those skills when they don't have customers or when it's slow.

What about the social issues?

A stripper must deal with negative social stereotypes and that stress, must be able to deal with  not making enough money, deal with stupid/drunk clients or owners ...

In Internet marketing,  you will work mostly alone, work long hours and most days of the week, people will not understand the business ...

In both cases, you must find others that can support/understand your business. In my case, having my family and the group of fellow Internet marketers is helping me. I'm sure strippers have a forum or local group.

When are you getting paid?

A stripper will be paid before the lap dance start.

In Internet marketing,  if I create a site today, it may take 6-7 months or be tomorrow to get paid. Patience is needed.

What business model to follow?

I'm a big fan of diversification. In my case, I made up a model for me. I use the $1/day, sell AuctionSiteWriter and MyStarterBlog and do a little offline consultation for clients.

In the $1/day model, I expect that each site will produce an average of $30 for the month. I could make $0 a month but $60 the next month.  If your goal is to make $100/day, then you will need 100 sites minimum. Those sites are set and forget thus requiring little management.

Some will create 1 site and try to make it a big success.

If you have a spouse or teenagers, you could teach them your model since the money will be used by all thus in their best interest.

A stripper could decide to invest one lap dance per night to get a new domain name if she follow the $1/model.

Once you start making money, you should reinvest that money in the business. Eventually, you might have more than 100 sites. If a site is not performing well, the new ones can compensate instead.

Conclusion

I decided to use the stripping world to show similarities with Internet marketing and make my point . I could had used any jobs that require selling but it was more fun that way. lol

If you currently have a job(stripping or not), you can and should start now. But because strippers have a shorter work life, it's even more true for them to start early to plan their "retirement" of that business.

It's not my style to get personal but I think this might help some reading this and those doing Internet Marketing(darker health side): Are you thinking of losing weight fast?

If you still think of losing weight fast after reading this, I hope you will reconsider.

History

In my early 30s, I got to a point that I was getting fat... okay I was borderline obese. At least, I'm not or was a smoker.  I joked that I had extra reserved in case of another Irish famine. lol

At that time, I never did a diet/exercise. I finally did the Atkin's diet and was losing weight fast: nearly 70 pounds within 6 months. I was walking, biking on my recumbent bike while watching television(multitasking) ...I went all out.

For me with Atkin's, it was the fact that I could still be a carnivore(eat meats) and eat chocolate flavor products.

I also wrote a list of things I wanted to eat but I did not while on the diet.

Everyone told me I was getting too thin. But when I checked my BMI score, I was still 15 pounds over. I wanted  to be in the middle at about 21-22 of normal weight. BTW, a BMI is one benchmark to look at. Some use other measurements.

And Poof!!!

Then it happens: I went on my 2 weeks vacation with my now bigger list. I gain 13 pounds during that time. I was never able to get back the previous mindset I had before. I did tried a few times but did not last long.

It took about 7-8 years and I "gained" all those pounds back and more. I guest I was luckier than most since it normally take 5 years.

What About Now?

I decided of doing very tiny steps but my own way. Since Christmas, I lost a good 5 pounds from the highest I ever was.

I will weight myself every morning. In my case, I noticed that when I was not doing that, I would gain more weight. This way, I can have an idea of where I am while taking into consideration the previous day.

For example,  if I was at a party, then it's normal I would gain weight thus not stress about it.

Unlike being a webmaster, it's okay to look at your stats everyday.

I know I have bad eating habits and I'm accepting it by manipulating that side of me. When I buy junk food, I still look at the carbohydrates and pick the lowest one when possible. For the last year, I take a multivitamins every morning to compensate.

One thing I kept doing all this years, it's to park my car away from the door when I go the the shopping mall/theater.  This way, I walk a little more. I know I should do more exercise so I use alternative ways like that.

Instead of writing a list, I will act on my craving and get it out of my system or wait when it's on special.

Carb's, Diabetes ...Oh my!

My family has an history of diabetes so I'm more aware of counting carb's.

Last month, my vitamins bottle was almost empty so I went to Costco for a refill. There, I saw a related product I was taking in my diets days: Whey Protein powder. But was it high in carbs?

If you don't know, you take the carbs minus the fiber to calculate the real carbs. In this case, it had 2 carb per portions with 1 gr. of fiber thus a total of 1 carb. I still don't calculate my daily carbs.

If you took Slim-Fast powder, you had 30-40gr per portion back then. Slim-Fast now has low carb shakes but not in powder form.

In my diet days, a 5 lbs powder pack  was costing me around $60-70 but I never took the time to check the price in recent years. I was surprise to see that the price dropped to $30. Lucky for me, Costco had chocolate flavor.

As for the taste, it's not Quik but better than I expected. Don't worry, you will get used to the taste.  If not, try another brand.

You could mix it in 2%  milk like I'm doing now. Later, you can use 1%, skim and eventually water.   Those powders don't dissolve so you have to shake them or use a small blender(milk shake feel).

Note: Ladies, by now you may have noticed that the way to my heart  is with chocolate. Even now a devil's chocolate cake will work(diet or not)  lol

The weird thing is that I'm not a big eater. I not going to eat 10 pancakes in the morning and 10 hamburgers at launch. On the contrary, I often take 2 toasts in the morning and sometimes with 1-2 eggs. I will however take 2 cookies here and there.

But by finding this affordable whey protein powder, it gave me the idea to add this option to my meals again. Like I mentioned before, I will do it my way, at my pace.

Since I started using the powder 4 days ago, I lost 1-2 more pounds. That's in addition of the other 5 pounds already lost.  I'm also trying to decrease  my number of snacks to add in my overall new effort to lose weight.

The problem of doing Internet Marketing full time is that we are often in front of the computer for long stretch of  hours. Eventually, the passive money earned will allow us to take time for us.

I know I should do more exercise. Now, if I could just add links to my sites while going on a walk. Wait, I could start a BMD run and go walk(IM joke). This would give more CPU resource to BMD anyway.

What I learned is that losing weight fast was encouraging on the moment but not that good in the long run.

P.S. National security at risk?

People will tell you moderation is the key, and I agree. But why are most North American are getting fatter and fatter every year? Is there outside influence at work here?

If a country wanted to invade the US or Canada, they would just need to wait a couple of decades. By then, the average adult will be too big and out of shape to go outside or would die of a stroke just my lifting a firearm. lol

Those who are Stargate fans will remember the "2010" episodes.

Another flu, another risk of flu pandemic(level 5 out of 6). In this case, people will "buy swine flu masks" to protect their family just in case it does become a big pandemic. The downside is that many local stores are now running out of masks. And if they have some, the local stores will rise the price since the demand will be higher.

Even in Quebec City(no case reported yet), people are buying them. I read this in the newspaper this morning.

It won't protect you if you don't wear it the right way thus giving you a false sense of protection a doctor mentioned in the article. Basic precautions are still recommended at this time here: wash you hands and stay home if you have a cold.

If we are lucky(crossing fingers), the flu will be minimal. In any cases, the masks are not wasted since it can be used another time(normal flu), the next big flu or on Halloween. Why do I think we will find many children dressed as medical personnel next Halloween?

But like a doctor said on television yesterday, often, a flu comes back in a second wave. That's what happened with the Spanish flu of 1918-1919. It started in the spring of 1918 only to hit harder in September of the same year. At least, researchers are more ready to combat the swine flu virus.

At last, I'm BANS Free and phpBay API Free!

But how did I do it you may ask?

Since the launched of MyStarterBlog, one of my goal was to replace every one of my BANS and phpBay auction sites by using Rob's MSB eBay Plugin(MEP).

Don't get me wrong, BANS and phpBay are 2 great way to display eBay items. For those new to creating that type of sites, it's a good alternative but pricier than MSB and the plugin.  At this time , the combo is about $14($7 each). So, it's way cheaper than the other 2 ways.

Tapping new markets

But, for the last weeks, I have been testing the beta(v2) of MSB eBay plugin. The price will increase because it's even better than before. I don't want to talk much about it but I expect to find other markets using the same sites.

For example, using the phpBay Pro WP plugin, 15-20% of earnings came from Canada on those sites. But with BANS and phpBay API, I was only able to target US visitors. The new MEP fixed that. To be fair, I was using phpBay API v2.5 while v3.0 added more features too. Maybe BANS will follow suit in v4.

What I learned from the conversion?

I'm waiting for the final version of MEP soon so I will have to update my sites again. I knew that but I wanted to test it more using real sites.

Also, I took notes because I used AuctionSiteWriter to create the basic site and then loaded it into MyStarterBlog to tweak it more, add content...This will mean new versions of both software soon.

I did add some features in the last versions of both software but by converting more sites, it gave me more insight in the whole process.

Comparing BANS, phpBay and MyStarterBlog

I once gave my opinion on BANS and  phpBay when I started creating auction sites. It's time to make a quick update by adding MyStarterBlog.

Conclusion

MyStarterBlog is growing beyond what I expected by supporting other type of sites. Is it perfect? No but no software is perfect since we use "version". In the auto industry, they use "recall".

In the end, I'm glad I'm BANS Free and phpBay API Free!

Last year, I had to register to SEDO to be able to make an offer on an domain. The owner and I did some testing and I concluded that the domain, for me, was not worth it for the price he was asking. Also, the Canadian dollar took a beating around that time and did not want to invest that much money. Yes, I'm missing last summer 1:1 exchange rate.

Once the testing was done, I made an offer based on the traffic he was sending from that domain.

The seller also had another related domain with half the traffic for sale but not making that much per day from SEDO parking. I made an offer and he accepted(day 1).

I had to enter my PayPal information to be paid when parking domains but also when buying the domain.

Once the seller agreed to my price, SEDO sent me an email. From there, I had to first pay the SEDO(escrow) and select the registrar.

Day 2

I had to send info to switch registrar.

Day 3

Got the authorized code to transfer registrar.

Day 4

All the transfers were done and the seller was paid a few days later.

For the first domain, they did not transfer the domain to my chosen registrar for some reasons. It could had been me too. But, I needed to wait 60 days more to do redo the transfer. The second domain was okay. If you have the same registrar, it's faster.

I since done other transfers because it's fast and secure. When I sold one of my domain, I had to pay a 10% fee for the escrow service. This way, I'm protected.

The aftermath

After I taking possession of both domains, I noticed I was not getting the traffic I got from the stats from SEDO that the seller sent me on one of them. I was only getting 10%. How could that be? Why the major drop? Did he mislead me? One thing for sure, I was mad!

Up to that time, I never got any troubles with the seller based on the previous testing phase. I sent an email to the seller since I paid for x amount for the traffic.  I offered him 2 options: explanations or partial refund based on the traffic I was getting.

But if he was dishonest, I was also ready to out him in public for being dishonest. Reputation is hard to gain but easy to lose. However, that was my last course and I wanted explanations first since he was honest before. Thus, I gave him a chance to explained himself.

My email was not received well and he did not like the tone. After reading my email, I admit I was a little too  direct. "Screwed me over" reflected the feeling I had at that time. Plus, I was accusing him of being dishonest when using those words.  But, I could had posted to my blog while never giving him a chance to give me his side. After that, I apologized and I was more diplomatic when choosing my words. Before that first email, I did asked a few questions but he never really answered all of them properly while answering others correctly.

He offered explanations and he pointed out a mistake I had made when receiving the incoming traffic. Yes, I admit, that part was my fault. After I made the modifications, I was getting the right amount of traffic.

I received 2 more replies later on. In the first reply, he accused me to be the dishonest one and that it was his last reply. The second reply, a few minutes later,  was that he was going to contact everyone that was sending me traffic to that domain. I never replied to either of those replies.

The lesson: Choose you words carefully. For both of us, English was not our first language. Maybe I used word that was more misinterpreted on his side.

Dealing with existing traffic

For those curious, I was only processing domain.com/index.html?uid=9999 when I should had process domain.com/index.php?uid=9999.I had only seen the .html

When you setup a site, you should check the 404 errors more carefully. With all my previous pre-owned I had bought, I never had that situation like this one.

Dealing with SEDO traffic

SEDO will give you the traffic they actually count as traffic. When domains are parked, they will show ads thus sending traffic is against the TOS.

Both domains are still receiving a lot from many traffic exchange services thus SEDO is not counting them. I can't do anything about it either since it's it's not from me. I do get regular traffic from backlinks too.

Also, SEDO will show the total hits for the last 30 days. So, if the domain was added yesterday, SEDO will show that total in the "last 30 days". If you see a low amount, it could be higher than that.

With those 2 domains, 95% is non converting crap traffic. At least, by using a few NB offers, I was able to almost double my money within 3-4 months from those 2 domains. I must mentioned that the second domain did not convert well. But, I took a gamble and I won this time.

Conclusion

Buying domains with pre existing traffic from SEDO or other services is good IF you can know where it comes from first. If you are lucky, the traffic is not being manipulated in anyway.

Otherwise, you might be stuck with a high priced lame duck. If it happens, you can always build links to get better targeted traffic but you will need to be patient until Google counts them.

Now, I check the traffic but it's not the major stat I look at. I check the number of backlinks, name, what it was used for and.... if it's in my budget because both were more than what I pay for pre-owned domains.

When I launched MyStarterBlog in February, I converted a static WordPress blog to MSB. That blog had 200+ posts thus perfect to make an importing WP test. That site was not updated since mid March of 2008.

Unlike a conventional site, this one is mostly consisting of pictures so the content is not very search engine friendly for long tail keywords. I keep that site because it's a door to a niche that most IM might stay away.  If you have read my blog before, I wrote about that niche and blog once about it.

Some stats

Because that blog mostly relied on very cheap CPM ads for revenu, the loading speed is very important.  The more pages that are viewed, the better the visitor will stay or click on an ad.

The results are preliminary but I noticed that I had an increase in revenue of 66% versus February. Of course, the site was converted to MSB on February 21. I also changed host and February is shorter by a few a days.  Even if I take that into account, I can say that my revenu did overall increased.

To be fair, I checked my history and March is my biggest earning month so far. It beat the December record by 12% and January by 14%. Those were the 2 previous months with the highest earning. Also, a lot of people have Holiday vacation thus had more time to surf.

The page viewed for March was 3.34 pages/visit versus 2.50 pages in December.

The month of April/May will give me more data but I do expect to earn a little more from that site. I did not add links to that site for a very long time either.

Conclusion

Any additional increase in revenue is a  good thing in this economy even if it's small.

The upside of using MyStarterBlog now is that I don't have to deal with upgrading Wordpress anymore.

So, if you have a simple static WP blog, why not convert it to MyStarterBlog?
