I started using LinxBoss(aff.) around 3 months ago on 5 sites(slots). This gave me  time to give you my honest review of LinxBoss,  opinion of the service, the results, tips  and also about the support.

And those that read me knows that I will be upfront and I won't shy away to call it a scam or not. Heck, just read my last few posts about scams!

What is LinxBoss?

In short, LinxBoss is a way to get one way backlinks in a hands off manner to my money sites and ...backlinks. Yes, a new feature was added after I started called L4L for Links 4 Links that build backlinks to you current/indexed backlinks. Btw, that's a great feature they added and did not cost me more!

How it works?

The base price include 5 slots of 1000 contextual backlinks/month thus 200 backlinks per slots. A slot can have more than 1 URL(deep links) thus will be part of the 200 backlinks from that slots.

Here is the thing: you don't have to write texts for them. Of course, you do have to add the URLs, keywords(main, secondaries) and category but not a blurb or article to write. That's another great thing for me.  In the case of L4L, you just enter related keywords that you don't mind ranking for but far for the keywords you want to really rank for.

Anyway, they have some training videos to help you better understand how it works once you are a member of LinxBoss.

L4L tips

When I looked at my stats, I noticed that the one of the 5 sites that is my current money maker  had more L4L backlinks already found versus the 4 other slots. This is what I believe made it stronger than the others and is making money now for me.

With that in mind, I started to add by hand backlinks in L4L that I made using my other softwares but were not indexed yet. In one week, I already saw a rise on most sites.

My suggestion is to continue to promote your sites the conventional way by adding more backlinks like you were doing before. In those cases, I added them by hand in L4L because I knew of some of my backlinks(ezine). Otherwise, I will have to wait for L4L and my other backlinks to find each other later on. I only gave it a little push to make it more faster.

Btw, the L4L is on another whole network and there is not limit in the number of backlinks to them. Also, those backlinks to backlinks will be done to authority sites first. It's logical too since this will give more juice to your money sites by default.

My results... so far

I can say that most of my sites do have better ranking today than when I started. In most cases, it took only a few weeks to increase in ranks. You can expect fluctuation up or down so don't worry about that.

But since I added backlinks manually in L4L  just last week for the other 4 slots, I will mostly comment on the best performer that did had backlinks found by L4L. Remember that L4L only started after I got in.

The site started at #22 and now it's #1. It has 2900 searches a month. It took around 1 month to get to #2 and since then goes from 1 to 2.

Money talks

I did not know if I should mentioned it but sometimes it can help to see real numbers. Plus, I wanted to see what will be the impact on my others sites when they get to that point later on.

Some have more  and some less searches per month. You can say this one is in the middle in the number of searches so a good example for me.

• From May 25 to June 24(before): $3.31
• From June 25 to July 24(First month): $14.36
• From July 25 to August 24(Second month): $255.63
• From August 25 to September 16(Third month): $299.03

Now to be honest, these numbers were beyond my expectation. I expect my other sites to make make less or more when L4L make it's effect noticed later on. But that's if I selected the right paying keywords for those and that's not LinxBoss responsibility but mine alone.

Second bigger round

Seeing that, I added 20 more slots late last month. It is costing less per slot but a good deal of money in addition of the first 5 slots. I'm investing in my IM business. I'm also concentrating more on those 20 sites more than ever and added backlinks manually last week  in L4L like the others(first batch).

When I selected my 20 sites, I took those that were much behind thus page 2-3 and up. A few were on page 60 or more. I believe that if they are there, it's because there is more money to make thus more competition. At least, that's my thinking.

So far, the effect on ranking is pretty excellent. 18 of the 20 sites are now on page 1. Most of them are between position 4 to 10 already after less than month. I suspect that  L4L is now helping more. Of course, the closer to #1, the harder it is but possible like I saw for myself. That's why I will give most of them a second month.

Rotation, Rotation, Rotation...

Once I start seeing constant results from a main keyword in a slot, I will rotate it with it's  secondary keyword for a few days/weeks. That's an option.

The second option that I'm considering  is to use another site instead. Some will reach the top 3 positions if not #1 sooner than other sites thus I can remove it and use another site in that spot quicker.

But for the next batch, I'm also looking at those sites that are already near the top 3 but not in LinxBoss yet. Those might just need just a few weeks or 1 month to reach the top thus rotate faster than other sites that are way out there.

Do you speak Français?

In one of the slot, I'm promoting a site in French that I have.  I can't use a keywords that have a French accent in it. It's a draw back, at least for me and something you should be aware if you have non-English site too.

To get around that, you could use  non-accent keywords since a lot of people won't use them for searches. Of course, some will and it might be the one with the more searches too. For example, I have to use Quebec instead of Québec.

Another solution when using LinxBoss, it's to write  articles that do have the accent and add those backlinks in L4L after it's published.

But if you have many sites using accent for the main keyword, you could also dedicate a slot for promoting  articles URLs like ezinearticles.com for example.

Like I mentioned above,  watch the video on how it handle multiple URLs in a same slot.

The support

I had a few issues/questions/suggestions and they responded in a quickly fashion. To me that is a great example of good support. If you have read my previous posts, you know how bad support can affect the long term relationship with a client.

Open or closed

Soon after I started, it closed the doors. I checked earlier today and it's opened but for how long this time around?

They want to offer a good support and grow their service. So, they have to do that from time to time to help new members, add features like L4L, add new sites into the network  and then reopen later on. I can understand that perfectly.

Conclusion

Some might not get the same effect than me and that's keyword selection for you. Also, if you can't afford the LinxBoss service or willing to invest if you have the money, then you will need more patience or use another service that you can afford and feel comfortable with.

What can I say: I took a chance when I selected my sites and it paid of for me. I believe enough in it(20 more slots) to expect to pay me sooner rather than later. But don't take it for 1 month thus budget at least  2-3 months to see results on your sites. And continue to get backlinks so that L4L find them.

Yes, it's nice to have another popular McGrath. I was watching the show Merlin a few years back when I saw that one of the actrices was named Katie McGrath. She is a beautiful young lady plus, of course, a McGrath.

Just for fun, I wanted to know the McGrath searches being done on Google and found that her name was #1. At first I did not remember her name so I used Google and saw that she was indeed in the show Merlin. I saw season 1 but being in Internet Marketing and passing less  time in front of the TV, I missed season 2. Season 3 is expected to start next September.

To get spiders come to your site or blog, you need to tell them that you updated your site. That's why having an updated ping list is a good thing.

I already had an old list but with too many dead ping servers. So I went online and found many older lists(thanks) or older post about that subject. The reasons I wanted a new list was for 3 reasons:

1. MyStarterBlog

I wanted to had a ping function in a theme for MyStarterBlog(my own software). I created a new batch of small MSB sites to make money online from them since I'm doing Internet Marketing. Plus,  I don't use WP for the reasons I don't want to be bothered with the whole security/MySQL issues that gave me problems in the past. It's set and forget for those make money sites.

That's why I generate my sites using MSB because it creates a flat file blog/site. I need to upload to site with every change. In this case, my money 3 pages blog/site took about 100KB. For 1 installation of a WP blog, I can have 40+ MSB sites thus taking less space or resource on my hosting account.  I don't need a MySQl database either. The themes are SEO optimize, RSS ready, sitemap... but was missing the ping feature until now.

So, I found some php code to ping my sites made with MSB. I modified a few lines at the start for MSB and it was simple.

1. Download the code/ping list(173 ping servers, zip format, 2.9KB) to your MSB theme directory. You should change the default file names for your own needs.

2. Generate or regenerate the MSB blog/site.

3. Upload the updated new files

4. To ping,  just do that in your browser:

http://mywhateversite.com/ping.php or new name of the php file

Voila! It's done.

My goal was to be able to use the current MSB version and be optional for users. So, if you don't want this ping list for MSB, just use the list for ....

2. BMD

In BMD(a must for bloggers in my opinion), you can promote your new blog post or site to social bookmarking sites. It has a feature to ping your account page on those social bookmaking sites. This way your post will then be crawled.

One cool feature is that it also let me test each of them(active or not) and find duplicate. Those 173 ping servers were active when I created my list. I had 350+ at the start from copying lists. It took me some time or should I say BMD to check them out.

3. WordPress

As I'm writing this, I still using WP to write on this blog. So, I wanted to update that ping list too.

I may in the future convert my blog to MSB like I did with another blog that I did not allow comments (no enough time to respond/too much spam). I'm glad I did that since it make me passive money even if I don't update it often this days.

However, I might just keep WP here since MSB is mostly for secondary/no comment allowed blogs or make money sites(set and forget) for me.

Btw, when a ping server is still live, it make it faster to ping  in BMD or MyStarterBlog and WP.

Just a quick post to mentioned that AuctionSiteWriter v2.1.0 is now available.

The main goal was to quicly add support for MyStarterBlog. So, instead of creating a phpBay API site, I will create a MSB blog. I will go to each auction sites I created with phpBay or BANS and convert them to MSB. I will be using the auction theme that buyers get with MSB. They still need to buy the MSB eBayPlugin.

Here is the thing: Big G deindexed most BANS, phpBay sites last year in a vast swoop of the hand. Most of my older sites were affected and some from late last year.

Even with that, January was my record earning month with just Yahoo, MSN traffic. Yes, I added a few auction sites since that but the last 3 months was mostly spent on programming MSB.

Using ASW with the template, I will generate a basic auction site. Then, by using MSB, I will had content specific to each products with an About, Contact and Privacy pages. This will give "credit" to my sites in the eyes of Big G.  I believed that Big G did not like my "thin" auction sites I was creating or it just don't like phpBay API/BANS at all.

Are my deindexed site be reindex by Big G? Maybe but once they are converted to MSB, I will ask for reinclusion anyway. It may take time but I have nothing to loose since most make money from other traffic. Plus, the new look will appeal to visitors and look more professional thus they will tend to bid more.

While most run away from creating new auction sites, a few people I know continued and are making more money from them.

What does article spinning has to do with auction sites?

I'm adding features to AuctionSiteWriter that are not auction specific but still can use for my BANS, phpBay sites.  With an auction site, you can get spinned articles by adding backlinks in the article to be publish using SK. If you promote 3 auction products per site, you can have 3 deep links to those pages in your article.

Using SK will help you more for that specific task(added SK button) or for a niche site(Spin). You could use the article to create more unique content for all your niche blogs/sites.

How the Article spinner feature work?

1-In the Original article page, you write an article or you can paste a PLR article.

2- When it's finished, you click on Import. ASW will then split every line finishing by . !  ? or carriage return (Enter). Keep the HTML to the basics thus avoid those characters.

3. You then select the Write line variations page. You will see a grid with every line of your article. Below the grid, you can write up to 3 more variations of the original line(Line 1). By writing something real, it make the article reader friendly and the more line you do, the less duplicate content you get when you spin it.

4-  Once you have finished, you select the Spin article page. You have the option to spin the article or click on SK to get the article compatible for Syndicate Kahuana.

Updated review of Syndicate Kahuna

At first, I was a skeptic of SK since I expected duplicate content and wrote my opinion about it. But after paying to be able to publish my articles to the network, I understood how it worked in reducing duplicate content. But I still believe that you should not use it on a flagship blog.

The network is made of blogs owned by other bloggers like me. It's free to register a blog and the blog must be categorized to be able to get related articles.

If I don't spin my article, it will only be published to 4 blogs(limited duplicate content). This was the mistake I made with my first article. By using the spin mode, I get more variations and thus get publish on more related blogs in the network.

To keep the quality of the articles high, they must be validated first. It took less than 12 hours.

My article will then be added to 2 new blogs per day until all of them are done.  The new feature in ASW will help with that particular task(SK button). Frankly, that is why I added this feature in the first place. I also needed it for my niche blogs too thus the Spin button.

Unlike most article directories, a blog will only get related content.  Like I mentioned before in another post, my financial related blog only gets financial articles plus my own articles when I have the time. My blog is less dead that way and I get new content for those readers and search engines.

The bigger the article, the more backlinks I can add in it.  In any case, those are contextual anchored backlinks that will increase your ranking. I'm limited to a maximum of 3 backlinks per article. However, the ads on my financial blog must compete with those 3 backlinks.

The price is $67/month to be able to publish your articles(no limit per month). You could test it for 1-3 months or you can get 45% off by paying one year in advance.

SK should be part of your toolbox to get content(free) and backlinks(paid). The same goes for BMD, FBF....

Btw, you links will be counted when your links gets counted by Google and other search engines.

I wanted to test if it was possible to get backlinks with a fake software. So on December 5th, I submitted a fake software to 715 software directories.

The goal was to inform directory owners of a method that show how to do it. I must mentioned that I don't approve of that method and I won't mentioned the title of my fake software. You can use the method or not.

What are Fake Software?

It's a software to get backlinks from software directories to a webmaster site. Those could be created by non-programmers thus the appeal to average webmasters.

About software directories backlinks

The backlinks will not appear all at once. I knew that some will be approved the same day while others may take months. For some directories, I would had to submit the fake software after confirming my email but I won't. I'm using the lazy method since it's the secondary idea of the method: Get backlinks with less work.

Depending on the directory, the backlink might not use the title of the software to point to the site. The anchor text will be generic or even nofollow. I might not get a rejection email.

For a short time gain, it is easy to get approved.

Chronology

2008/11/05: I don't include the time to create the fake software. I submitted to 715 directories, it took 3h42 and it finished around 7-8PM. The fake software was approved in 93 directories.

2008/11/06: The fake software was approved in 98 directories(Morning)

2008/11/08: The fake software was approved in 100 directories(Morning). I got 3 rejection emails.

2008/12/31: The fake software was approved in 85 directories(Morning). I got 5 rejection emails.

2009/03/28: The fake software was approved in 90 directories(Morning).  I got 7 rejection emails.

I will update this from time to time. (leave a comment if it's been awhile)

Conclusion

You can use the method or not so it's up to you to decide. Btw, the method will cost you $97. I still prefer people get FBF(free) or BMD($97 but 50% more later). On that, I did not change my opinion.

Today, I'm sure a lot of you will be bombarded by Google Conquest emails. I already got 2 email within minutes. I looked at the video in the previous days before the launch and I do understand what they are doing.  Plus, the process is supposed to be very automated.

But here is the catch: Google Conquest is $997 and limited to 1000 members(not mentioned). Alex Goad invested $200 000 and will make 1 million if all spots are sold minus the commissions(50% ?). That's not a bad profit margin and, after all, he did took a chance to build is system.

He and his team limited it to 1000 because they are planning to offer a 60 day challenge later. You do the "task of the day" and they will check it. That's a lot of work/time and his team must be paid.

They also want to build a community which is not a bad thing.

My reservation

Getting backlinks is not a fun thing to do but that's what get you paid. Google Conquest offer it's own blog network for you to get those backlinks. That's it force and also it's weakness. That's where I have my biggest reservation. Alex Goad will say that's okay but I don't agree with him. At it's core, it's still a link farm and Google don't like any kind of link farms.

I mentioning this because Google might find it and penalized the whole farm. If you have made your $997 back before that, you are okay. But if you did not, you may have bought into a lame duck.

Since Alex Goad won't ask for any more money, you should hope he can afford to build another link farm fast.

Of course, it's not the only way for you to get backlinks. You will still have Yahoo, MSN traffic thus will might take much longer if that happens.

My suggestion

If the price would had been much much  lower,  I'm sure he would sell more. Plus, not everyone will be interested in the 60 day challenge. The challenge could be included in the "Take me by the hand" premium version.

Others might just want to have access to the blog network even if it's a risk. Heck, they may even have to make one blog available to add to the whole network to get in like Syndicate Kahuna(free/paid).

Conclusion

Don't get me wrong, Google Conquest look nice on virtual paper and might work. I don't consider it a scam but a risk. In my opinion, it's too much money because of the risk of being penalize before most people have time to earn their $997 back. Not everyone can do this all day long.

While leaving a comment on a very popular MMO(make money online) blog, I noticed that the "Subscribe to thread" plugin was still removed. At first, I thought it was just deactivated for an upgrade. But the current result is that it's artificially increasing the overall stats.

Why Artificially?

Page views/Comments

Of course, I don't mean he is sending fake traffic. I mean artificially because it's a very commented blog thus people will do many refresh to see if someone responded to a comment or added a comment. If you got 100 comments and it's refresh 10 times, that's 1000 comments more. Let's say that people were refreshing 2 times even by subscribing, it's still an increase of 80%.

The comments are not artificial unless he write fake comments. I don't think he is doing that in this case.

Visitors

The number of unique visitors did increase based on the graphic but some if it could be because the IP of the commenter changed. With DSL or Cable, it's less an issue unless some are using proxies or telephone connections. On my blog, it's 2% that are using a telephone.

RSS readers

The other increase was by using the Aweber feature that will also artificially increase the number of readers. People might subscribe to the RSS feed and a newletters thus increasing the total number of RSS readers. Instead of 1000, it might be 700 real RSS readers. The die hard reader would also subscribe to the RSS by email because of the contest he is often running.

Alexa

Also, it does help to get a better Alexa rank with all those refresh and people having to visit the site. Since it's a MMO blog, many have the Alexa toolbar installed.

Advertisers misinformation?

Up to now, I did not have a problem with that. It's when I saw that he was claiming a huge number of page views and record breaking traffic for the blog. Of course by doing that, the numbers will increase. However, the advertiser might not know that it's partly true. He did not mentioned that part.

He could be upfront by also mentioning that by just removing the "Subscribe to thread" plugin, the advertiser ad will be more often than not in the face of the readers.

Conclusion

Also, forcing people to come back might encourage them to leave another comment thus creating new content for search engines. This method would work on a big established blog like he has.

Personally, I don't like to leave a comment on a new blog, for me, when the plugin is not there. I will forget about it and the blog. But if I'm using Fast Blog Finder(free/paid), it's less of an issue because I get a backlink while giving new content(no spam) for the blogger.
