I was about to check out Godzilla: King of the Monsters when I noticed it had 5.1 surround sound. A movie that's not an HBO production with 5.1 sound? Can this be really true? Did the Crave recent addition of the bilingual option aldo added 5.1 to more content? So, I decided to check out more movies in the "Just Added Movies" section and also the "Box office" section.

  • Godzilla: King of the Monsters (WB)
  • Spider-Man: Far From Home (Sony)
  • All Is True (Sony classic)
  • Sorry for your loss (Aqute media)
  • Pokemon Detective Pikachu (WB)
  • Shazam! (WB)
  • Us (Universal)
  • Glass (Universal)
  • The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part (WB)
  • The Secret Life of Pets 2 (Universal)
  • Aquaman (WB)
  • Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (WB)
  • Bohemian Rhapsody (20th Century)
  • Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (Sony)
  • Halloween 2018 (Universal)
  • Night School (Universal)
  • Venom (Sony)
  • Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (Universal)
  • Crazy Rich Asians (WB)
  • The Meg (WB)
  • The Nun (WB)
  • Creed 2 (WB)
  • Alita: Battle Angel (20th Century)
  • Men in Black: International (Columbia)
  • Brightburn (Sony)
  • Little (Universal)
  • The Kid Who Would Be King (20th Century)
  • At First Light (Entertainement One)
  • Fighting With My Family (MGM)

From the list of movies above, I expect the major studios(WB, Sony, Universal, 20th Century ...) will now have 5.1 sound. For smaller studios, it won't be automatic.

If Crave added 5.1 to movies, did they added it to none HBO series too?

Let 's see:

  • New Eden (Crave original)
  • Doctor Who (BBC)
  • The Rookie (ABC)
  • Ray Donavan (Showtime)
  • Killjoys (SyFy)
  • Deadly Class (SyFy)
  • Wynonna Earp (SyFy)
  • The Handmaid's Tale (Hulu)
  • Castle Rock (Hulu)
  • Killing Eve (BBC)
  • Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (ABC)
  • Homeland (Showtime)
  • Billions (Showtime)

Missing 5.1 but were recently added

  • Carter (CTV drama)
  • Star Trek: Picard (CBS All Access)

It's weird that a show like Carter(CTV drama is part of Bell) does not have it and Crave original New Eden has it. At least, it was added to Showtime, SyFy, Hulu ... Just a few days ago, most did not have 5.1 surround sound.

My faith in Crave is 85% restored ... because of the 15% still missing content. While I am happy for those with an Apple TV, I am sure those with other streaming players are waiting to get it too. At least, they will have more content than those with an Apple TV had at the beginning.

Check out if your streaming player has 5.1 surround sound here:
